We wanted to spend a whole summer working from a picturesque vacation rental somewhere—anywhere—along the coast of Maine. The reality is that if you want to spend the summer on coastal Maine you either have to know someone who owns property or you have to book it years in advance. As much as we searched Craigslist, Airbnb, VRBO.com and a slew of other websites we could not find an affordable place to rent. In the end we settled for two one-week rentals with three weekends to explore. The first rental was up north near Acadia National Park in Hancock, Maine. The second was in Portland. Highlights from our trip to Maine include:
- Kayaking in Hancock
- Camping at Seawall Campground in Acadia National Park
- Hiking Gorham Mountain in Acadia National Park
- Exploring Brunswick, Bath, Rockland, Rockport, Camden, Belfast and Portland
