Jessica, aka The Funny Yogi, has long loved yoga and improv but she never guessed she would be able to make a career out of the two things that brought her the most joy. That is until she discovered laughter yoga and something clicked. She figured out how to sell it to corporations.

Now she leads teams from all kinds of companies including Google and Microsoft through ice breakers, laughter yoga sessions, and motivational speeches as part of her corporate offerings. Drawing on her background with comedy and improv, she educates and engages her audience with the core purpose of bringing “joy and child-like fulfillment back to adults.”

Commit to Joy

Her message is one of joy, and how chasing your joy and aligning your actions with the things that bring you joy will lead to happiness and fulfillment.

She found her joy during her darkest time by going back and pulling on the thread of the last activity that actually made her happy: improv. That turned into her greatest success, and the ability for her to live life on her own terms.

She says the reason that she is so successful at it is because she has found the thing that she is meant to do.

When you’re joyful, she says, you’re like a bell that’s being rung. You’re resonating from within.

This message of chasing your joy is why we’re kicking off season 3 of the Wandering Workers podcast with The Funny Yogi. Not only did she craft her ideal career in order to live life on her own terms, but her message of joy is so important, and a great way to set the tone for the year ahead. Because no matter where you are on your journey, you can start chasing your joy right now. And you’ll be happier for it.

In this episode of the podcast, Jessica talks about her path from the corporate world to running her own business, her journey through mental health, and the tips and tricks you can use for finding your own joy so that you too can resonate like a bell that’s being rung. It concludes with a challenge at the end that’s meant to help you find more joy in your own life.
