His name is Jordan Carroll but I like to call him the remote work guru. He works with individuals who want to transition to remote work AND with corporations who want (or need) to support an increasing number of remote employees.

He was doing this work long before COVID-19 forced workers and companies into work-from-home arrangements. But he believes that this is going to be “the single biggest transition to remote work ever in our current history…and that only the strongest companies that are most able to adapt will survive.”

The Future of Work

It’s an opportunity for companies and employees alike to adjust and come out stronger on the other side.

That’s easier said than done when there are so many unanswered questions during these uncertain times. But in the middle of it all, people are also talking about how there is opportunity in chaos. And one of those opportunities just might be a bigger, more lasting movement to remote work.

“Companies that make it through this period will be stronger, more resilient, and more open to remote work, and that means remote work hiring is going to go through a boom,” Jordan says. “Many orgs that hadn’t implemented remote work policies before won’t even go back to an office environment because of the cost savings, productivity, and the lessons they learn during this time period.”

For those of you who have been dreaming of remote work, this is your chance to prove that you can make it work. How can you contribute to bringing your team together and making everyone feel more connected during this unprecedented time?

Of course there is a big caveat for the folks who also have kids at home right now…this is not a normal remote work situation so go easy on yourself.

In this episode Jordan talks about his transition to remote work as well as what it could look like for you.

At the end of the episode is a challenge that’s meant to help you take the information you hear and carve out more clarity and understanding in your own situation.

Best of luck to everyone as you navigate these uncharted waters. May we all find the opportunities in the chaos and come out stronger because of it.
